- The ventilation industry directly impacts public health, and its importance is increasing by the day due to the increase in Korea’s national income combined with the human desire to live longer, healthier lives.
Since most people spend the majority of their time indoors, in order to enjoy a long and healthy life, preventing indoor air pollution caused by fine dust and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is just as important as eating food and living in a comfortable environment.
We have seen a number of infectious diseases spread globally in the 2000s - SARS, MERS, and most recently, COVID-19. These diseases were able to spread rapidly because of indoor air contaminated with the virus.
In the past, Korean corporations viewed ventilation only as a sub-category of industrial equipment, which is why manufacturers focused mostly on developing energy-efficient products. In line with the times, however, we must now redefine the paradigm and value of the ventilation industry by raising public awareness of ventilation as a preventive medical system and an eco-friendly system.
Therefore, as President of KAVIC, I promise to do my absolute best to fulfill the purpose of the Association by collaborating with experts in ventilation technology, preventive medicine, and environmental engineering during my term of office.
Furthermore, I plan to take the lead in creating a mature culture where members of KAVIC can simultaneously cooperate while competing with each other in terms of quality rather than price, and help each other in times of need.
